As child of the erarly 80's,i was lucky enough to witness the first maldivian metal scene.
as i remember it was around late 80's when heavy metal musicians started emerging.
two of my berothers were drummers for "Aficraifa"(one of the early founder bands of the metal scene).they used to have uproarious concerts like The Track Show & Painted Sound Illusion(the only rock show consisting original material) to name a few.we can still see some of the members of the old metal scene in commercial bands. What happened to them?
was it lack of appreciation from the public,no money cos of not being commercial or just a phase that young rockers go through?
when bands like Final Revalation, Clashers , Amixima , Deth Bed, Violet addiction used to rule the metal genre with influences from bands such as Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Sepultura, Megadeth, Metallica people were really into it.i beleive the cause of that is more original material & discipline as well.(being committed to the music)
but today i see less of that among the rockers.
rarely we do see some ,but that is rarely.
we have quite anumber of metal bands performing covers from Pantera,Children of Bodom Dark Tranquiity to Arch Enemy & Cradle Of Filth to name some
so the Maldivian metal genre has grown in variety, but unfortunately not in good music.
as a metal fan i was more than happy to see & hear them play my favourite songs & more.
& im really happy to see the immensely growing metal bands & fans.
keep playing, dont ever stop.want to see more from u rockers.best of luck
