Rock Storm
Rock Storm Auditions begin tonight with twelve bands taking part in the auditions. Two nights of auditions will select the finalists for the Auditions Finale scheduled for the 4th of August 2007.
According to the Rock Storm website, Damned, Grotesque, Bloodvile, Stygian Shore, Tormenta and Unborn will be auditioned on the 2nd August 2007. Dittore Head, Sacred Legacy, Prototype, Nothnagel, Traphic Jam and De-myth will be auditioned on the 3rd of August 2007. 10th August 2007 will feature Fasylive and Serentiy dies.
Rock Storm has branded itself as the premier rock event in the Maldives after its initial concert held in mid 2006. This year, the auditions have added some needed competitive energy among the bands. The sucess for Rock Storm in the long run would depend on its annual continuity. More such events would give the bands more experience and get them better prepared for the regional or world stage for the future.

yeh..the prob was they didnt practice tht much..thier drummer was in lanka.. nd came back before 2 days ..nd how can they practice well ?…tht was 1 reason
… they made mistakes like in all of the sngs..

Last nite was truly a dark chapterin maldivianmusic. I was ashamed being a fellow musician to see the band ‘unborn”s behaviour. They walked out of stage after getting some technical problems when they started. One of them cudnt hear the guitars on the monitors and they thought Fasy (who’s was the soud engineer) was deliberately sabotaging them and were calling swearing at him and when he went up to see whats wrong they even tried to attack him. It was extremely sad and ungly to see that ppl coming towards the sound booth and threatening after so much effort and time was put in by him to make the show a success.
It was not only that incidident,but some ppl from the audience grabbed adly’s guitar too when he was near the ramp and in anger he threw the guitar,which was again smashed by some fans. Tensions were very high with fights going around the scene.
I hope the rockstorm and Fasylive wud not be put off by this and they continue with the rockstormchapters. a word of advice ,get professional security ppl (hint:muscle load)

this Crap finder seems to be having some personal issues with nothnagel’s vocals, everyone agrees that he is one of the best vocals around right now and that nothnagel’s lineup is quite talented.

practice or nor practice the bands shouuld be ready for a gig if they’ve signed up for it. if not that means there not well prepared for it. and if someone is missing they should have someone to fill in for him. this is not kindergarten here. were talking about a huge show thats ended and still discussing which band practiced the most. i think the best bands who play well are the bands who can play without practice. (ofcos if they arent playing crap inge) i have to say nothnegal is pretty cool. just because one person doesnt like their vocals doesn mean he’s crap.. i myself am not a fan of the dark metal or thrash or whatever… but i can tell good music from bad.. and they can be pretty tight when they play well.. so i wish them good luck in the future…
and about adlhy and his bands behaviour, ild like to know a bit more about how it happened.. this is quite big.. i think theres no reason why anyone should disrespect fasy like so. if anything, we hsould respect the sound crew… if not, whos gona make the sound for the bands next time if they keep kicking the sound engineers ass everytime someting goes wrong. u think they’d wana make ur sound better for the next gig now/ im sure fasy wouldn help unborn in anything in hte future… besides.. what has he got to be jealous about? him and adly are two different guitarists.. and besides. what makes them think they could bring down the respect fasy has earned over the last few yrs just like that.. we need more discipline here.. and respect to other musicians. this is not a race..to find out whos the best. but a race to bring out the best in all of us. hey [... del ...], nothnagel did not practice a single time after the live earth show and from what i heard they took their name off the rocktorm bands list and again got back in at the last moment. from what i saw, they didnt make any major mistakes in any of the songs they played for a band that didnt have a single practice session for a whole month. they had to be a pretty good band to do that. but i saw worst performances by bands that had hours of practice each day, so i dont see any room for you to judge nothnagel like this. i know they werent at their best on this event, but they werent bad at all if you look at the situation they were in…

kon situation eh tha. if u aint ready for the gig, u js ain ready for the gig. maybe they are pretty good when they are on form i guess.. and yeah i myself have seen them play pretty well. but still messing up on stage without practice means they still arent ready to gig dho. anekkaa, show nimey fahun evaahaka dhekkumaky ves kihaa hadi. there is no use talking about how good they would’ve sounded like IF they practice. ma mi kiyaa ecchaky… practice kuraashey ehenviyya. and last min gaves sign up nukuraashey…and btw, i hv nothing against nothnegal. i think they are a pretty good band compared to some other bands. i myself am friends with their band members. so in a way, this is good them… next time they won’t know to make the same mistake. dho..

..nothnegal is no new band to us now, they have been around for sometime and we have seen their better performances and yeah it wasnt them at their best on rocktorm audtions this time. anyway they didnt mess things up like you say, i know they were not fully fit but they still managed to do quite well while there were bands on that show which actually messed up the stuff they played. why arnt you talking about those bands? and why nothnegal? i’m sure their next appearance wont be disappointing..

so much crap happen at Rock Stome, fights , bands getting pissed off , guita smashing on stage. But as i was standing in front of stage trying to take every thing in i realized …. this is a real Rock show. its not just the Music, its the feel …. it felt great just to be there, u guys wana know a crappy show….? “domenasion fest” i really dident like it. and EMAN U ROCK, first when you guys came on stage with face paint …. i thought it look funny ,,, but when you guys played … OH MY GOD !! hahahahaha… saabahey… i cant believe how such violent music could come out of such a beautiful peaceful place like maldives. but hey.. theres a little of everything here i guess. either way, violence is not what we need here in the maldives right now.. and music that promotes violence is not healthy for us.. not only to the music scene.. but to life in male’ as well.. i hope u metal freaks understand what im talking about… most probably u wont.
btw. i know nothnegal’s vocalist personally and he’s a good friend of mine. he’s one of those crazy vocalists like from sepultura or something. and i guess he knows what he’s upto. but! anekkaa ves… trying to come up with excuses for not being able to play a good show is hama down right
