Well I guess Zero Degrees will win hands down in terms of influence (musically and spiritually). So I'd say the Dhoni album by them. There have been alot of other influential albums in all genres (like the recent upsurge of topclass metal acts) and bands like 1984 have limitless originality; but still, if its THE most influential, it'd be Zero Degrees.

I think that one of the foremost compositions would be that of the Olympians. I am not really sure if they had an album out at that time but, they surely had a major impact in terms of composing and playing original songs. They were truly breaking ground and those songs still remain classics. In terms of originality, they sounded new for that time as the sound was imported from the hip genres of that time.

I also feel that you should not limit to albums as lack of know-how and proper mechanisms are not present even today, to churn out albums and judge by them. For example, songs like "Echcheh Kalheh" by the 20th Century B. C. was such a big hit then. Again, I am not really sure if it came out in an album.

If you only limit your research to albums, there are only still a handful.

Best of luck with your research.

Interesting..... Perhaps we see creativity and originality in some compositions and also quality to a certain extend. But identity...? not around. Zero Degree's Dhoni album could be one...
