Can Music Really Heal the World?
The past two weeks the death of the King of Pop had made headlines all around the world. His life of controversy will never reveal its secret with his passing. One thing we cannot dispute is the greatness of his music.
M.J was and still is an iconic musician that influenced thousands and inspired millions around the world. His global phenomenon hit song “Heal The World” achieved a lot of healing through out. It was co-written and produced by the best in the business – the song calls out for healing and peace and love.
It is my opinion that music can heal the world!!!
There is so much confusion, politics and anti-social behaviour amongst the youth of today. Do you think it maybe if we give them more opportunities via musical stages that a difference can be made? Maybe it is time for all of Maldivian musicians to come together and cry and sing their hearts out for Peace and Love amongst us.
Do you not think they can Heal so many wounds if that ought to happen? So it is time we have that “Show” that can bring together all the local talents onto one stage and create at least a day of PEACE and Brotherhood and sisterhood.
Give your opinion on if MUSIC can HEAL the WORLD!!! IS it a tool for making PEACE?

i meant to say, this is the best idea I have come across for a long time. society has come to a point where art can make great impact on our daily lives.

Its one thing any language can relate to. a way of communication. and by that, when we say “heal the world” through a music…. by letting millions of ppl hear this, we are engraving those words in their hearts. so that they do good. little by little.
a show is a good start. but just a ‘Show’ will not overcome all the problems we are facing in Maldives & the World. This has to be a movement where the artists believe in such causes. and when bands like Trio or Traphic jam or any other influential band supports these kinda issues… many fans will start believing in them too.. and so, healing the world OR shall i say… feeding good intentions into ppl’s hearts.
the artists do not have time to spare. u’d have to hire them. its not just a hobby anymore. they r professionals and they cannot keep on doing it like they used to… why? because they’ve been doing it like this for so long. its our turn to return their favor.
but yes… for PEACE… it’d hv to be very critical or shall i say, maldives would hv to be waging war on somebody for all the high-end artists to come out and play for peace…. if the stakes are not so high… u’ll end up with just another band… with no strong public figure to steer the crowd in the right way.

Well spoken Fenfulhangi.
Art (in any form) is the food of the human soul, its energiser and its life-giver.
If only more people realised it…

Yes, art can make an impact but its very individual. They say music is Universal but I should say its meaning is not. Simple reason is; what I make out of a song or a music may not be similar to yours.
It’s hard to agree that music can always heal. In my opinion that’s just one perspective within a single sub-genre. On stage musicians present a vast variety of lifestyles, habits, tastes, etc… No wonder why genres like the “punk-rock” and “emo-rock” commonly regarded as aggressive, harsh and even destructive, exist, which are quite recent additions to the local music scene.
If we are to bring all of them on to one stage, yes we will be waging war. And to my experience that’s what always happen. Why? Because heads of Health Ministry or Welfare have no idea of the music politics or the number 666.
But I agree, It’s an important issue that I wish and hope to contribute. My suggestion for you guys is; why don’t we first try and locate a local BOB GELDOF? Then this might work… in my opinion.

July 12th, 2009 at 23:39
well yea…we might be a sorry bunch..but we are the bunch that cares for all of you..:) so yea art not only music can be untied on this show…that will heal the Maldives…throw your ideas in

No, a concert will not “heal” the world.
July 13th, 2009 at 20:11
but a series of on going concerts highlighting issues and dealing with things will HEAL THE WORLD.
bringing awareness, signing petitions is very possible when hundreds of ppl gather to one place while having a common interest.

healing the world……..a grandoise statement…….art is the only domain where such a grand statement be adressed and communicated, from the scale of an individual to the whole universe, without bending to conventions or market forces or political correctness,
July 14th, 2009 at 11:53
Space Cowboy: that is true..just a concert will not HEAL the world…this is why is has to mean something…to be able to start off something..to be the beginning of long process…
Jah: That is true…art should not be something for the Market Forces or Politicians to use for their benefit alone…
T.R.T: Signing petitions have been proven effective in changing legislation and conventions

your steadfast belief in this is admirable. organize, and lets see what ensues.
